Bury The Ladybird
Tigg Dockerty (Lead Vocals), Matthew Gascoyne (Guitar), Zach Shannon (Bass) and Seb Boyse (drums) make up the Derby/Nottingham based rock band Bury The Ladybird. Tigg's powerful yet soulful vocals are the centre of a band where you can here many influences, coming together to make a sound that appeals to many people. You can tell when listening to them that Bury The Ladybird love the music they play, pouring their hearts and souls into their incredible songs and performances. Their awe-inducing performance blew me away when I saw them on Saturday. Here are some pictures from the gig :)
This band have some real talent, and are such incredible people to talk to. Their perfomance and crowd interaction got everyone going. I have much love for this band.

Coming up..
Coming up in the 2 weeks we have:
Aswel as The Struts @ The Vic Inn, Derby!
- The Struts Part 2: Kirk Hallam Social Club
- Bury The Ladybird
- Nitrox
- Micro Jupiter
The Struts
So, let me introduce you to the members of the band.. On ze guitar we have Mr Adam Slack! For all the ladies out there, on bass we have Mr Jamie Binns, and the man on the seat, that makes the beat to move your feet, it's Mr Rafe Thomas on the drums! And last, but by no means least, we have frontman and lead vocalist, Mr Luke Spiller!
Togther, this set of incredibly talented, unbelievably sweet and down right wonderful lads, make The Struts. My new favourite band.
The Struts are a Derby based band, with a difference, combining Adam's Beatles influences with Luke's Gospel, Soul and Early Rock and Roll influences, to create a whole new sound. The band are signed with Mercury/Future and unlike many bands, chose to stay in Derby, rather than move to London.
I first saw The Struts on 19th April 2010 (and i remember because it was also the first time I saw McFly live too). They came on stage, and honestly my first thought was 'who the fuck are these?' I turned my good friend Kel McGowan (Who also runs a blog called McFlyMetro.. you should check it out!) and her face was a similar picture to mine. My first thought when looking at Luke was 'If Noel Fielding, Freddie Mercry and Rod Steward had an orgy, he would be the product'. I had never seen anything like the 70's throwbacks that walked out on that stage... but then, they started to play. Then I fell in love with the 4 lads on that stage, because they where doing something different.
The boys played 4 songs; 'Things That You Do', my favourite 'Delilah', 'She Struts Around' and the catchy, can't help but sing along 'Where Did She Go'
I got caught up in the set, joining in with the crowd and singing along to the words. As a frontman, Luke Spiller can easily be likened to Freddie Mercury. His energy on stage is incredible, and the way he was about to work the crowd us, and get them joinging in and up on their feet in such a short space of time is a credit to the brilliant songs they write and play.
Most of the songs they perform are written by Luke and Adam, though recently, we have heard some pretty awesome covers on the band ustreams.
Soon after the McFly tour, they boys played a gig in Manchester, at Sound Control. Myself and Jade both attended along with our friends Kel, Carys, Lucy, Hannah and Nicky. The boys put on an icredible show, playing all the songs from the McFly tour, as well as a few others including 'Right Where You Want Me'
Luke @ Sound Control
Rafe @ Sound Control
Adam @ Sound Control
Jamie @ Sound Control
Jaddo @ Sound Control
After the gig, the boys stuck around for about an hour. They were signing autographs, taking pictures, talking about future gigs and just generally spending time with their fans.
These guys are a group of amazingly talented, genuinley nice lads.
Give these guys an chance to amazing you, and they will not fail.

Mike Fantastic
Mike Fantastic are a 4 piece electro pop band, based in Cardiff. The band is made up of lead vocalist Owen Sheppard, Olly Howells on Keyboard and Synth, Bassist Matthew Birch and Luke Welsby on drums. The music is an interesting mix of funk, disco-pop and dubstep and the band are signed to GDM Corp LTD and Sony.
In 2010 MF made it to the final 200 of TV show Britains Got Talent, and the show that aired in May 2010 was, unbelievably, the first gig the boys played together.
The video of their audition can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkYdBWV7k0s&feature=related
(Though the band is made up of 5 members here, once of them has since left)
Since then, they have enjoyed 2 UK headline tours and have played with other acts such as Peter Andre, The Overtones, Lucie Jones, Lloyd Daniels & Stavros Flatley.
On 26th July 2010 came the release of their first single 'Turn Off The Lights', which hit the iTunes chart, alongside the likes of Owl City and Pendulum. Their latest single 'Clearly I'm Invisible' has been played various times on MTV and has the kind of beat that will get stuck in your head for days!
Official video for 'Turn Off the Lights': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5OVk8M7ogA
Official video for 'Clearly I'm Invisible' (As seen on MTV and featuring a cameo from the bands manager George Madgwick!) can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RKHbSneCR4&feature=related
Now.. The first time I saw this band, I will admit, I had absolutly no idea who they were. I've never watched Britains Got Talent, so I had never seen or heard anything of them. Jade's boyfriend Paul, is a roadie for the band, and we where invited along for that reason. When I arrived I was given my AAA pass (I know, exciting stuff right?) and taken upstairs to meet the band. Owen, being the extrovert that he is, came over to introduce himself. Myself and Jade spent some time backstage, watching the band interact and relax before their gig.
We made our way downstairs for their set, and were blown away by the energy of the people we were seeing on that stage. Mike Fantastic had a sound unlike anything I had ever heard before, and I fell in love then and there! The performed songs from their latest EP 'You Like This' (which is available for download from iTunes now!) including 'Turn Off The Lights' and my personal favourite 'Stop, Wait, Operate' aswel as a dubsteb (I FUCKING LOVE DUBSTEP!) twist of 'Miss Hollywood' and covers of Usher's 'DJ Got Us Falling In Love', Sweedish House Mafia 'Miami to Ibiza' and Black Eyed Peas 'Time Of My Life (Dirty Bit)'
It was honestly of of the best gigs I have ever been to. MF were amazing on and off stage, and never made us feel anything but welcome. Since the gig a couple of the guys have stayed in touch, and they are on tour again in August, and I for one can't wait to see them again!
Check them out, cause you won't be sorry! <3

Paint This Town
Paint This Town are a 4 piece pop rock band, based in the Nottingham area of the UK. Officially, it's in a town called Grantham, but for now, we will say Nottingham.
They boys are all wonderful in their own right, easy to talk to, laid back and fun, as well as being unbeliveably talented musicians.
The band is made up of the adorable frontman Andrew Thomas, Guitarist Alex Pigott, Bassist James Bruce and Drummer Tom Bruce.
Both myself and Jade saw them for the first time at Kirk Hallam Social Club, Ilkeston, when they where playing with The Struts (who will be featured on this blog a lot, so get used to seeing the name :P) With in a minute of their first song, they had the crowd revved up, and singing along to their songs and the catchy tune and lyrics of 'Who Started The Fire' are bound to get stuck in your head for days! The band has an eclectic mix of Adam and the Ants, meets All American Rejects.
This is Jade's video of one of their performances http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6LgMRtOx-8
PTT themselve say that their aim is to 'make their live performance an engaging and genuine experience' and believe me they do that, and so much more too.
Despite their short run, the band have already played with the likes of The Struts, That Sunday Feeling, Iglu & Hartly, The Mission District, Summerlin, Futures, The New Politics and Kiss Corona.
Right now, this band are unsigned, and a real hidden jem too. They play real music, and they play it from the heart. You can see, when you see them on stage, that they love what they do. This is deffinatly a band that you should check out.
Upcoming gigs:
MON - August 15th - NEWCASTLE - O2 Academy 2
TUE - August 16th - MANCHESTER - Roadhouse
WED - August 17th - BRISTOL - The Croft
THU - August 18th - NOTTINGHAM - Rescue Rooms
FRI - August 19th - SOUTHAMPTON - The Hampton's
SAT - August 20th - LONDON - Relentless Garage
